A domicile, or home, is a place used as a temporary or permanent residence for an individual, family or group. It typically is a fully furnished or partially finished building and is often a house, condominium or other type of housing. The term home refers to any building or structure that provides the comfort of a fixed location for a family, person or business. It also typically includes land that allows access to a home or neighborhood for a variety of uses such as residential, recreational or industrial.

Homeowners often use their homes as living spaces because it offers privacy from neighboring residences and other people. It also offers a clean, orderly and secure living environment. However, for many families and individuals the home is not just a place to live in. It has become a place of work, with many homeowners taking advantage of the modern home office. In recent years, with energy-efficiency becoming a high priority among consumers, the home office has begun to replace the home as the place to do business.

There are a number of reasons why buyers prefer a home that is located within walking distance to their work or school. Many buyers want convenience, especially in urban areas where access to public transportation is limited and driving time to and from work can be a hassle. The increased value of a home that is centrally located can also appeal to buyers who want to invest in property that will increase in value over time. With technological capabilities that allow homeowners to keep tabs on their homes via the internet, buyers are eager to find ways to cut their costs associated with owning and maintaining a home.

For homeowners interested in cost-effective ways to remodel their current living space, they may want to check out open floor plan homes. “Open floor plan” describes a house design that allows for outdoor living space to be incorporated into the design of the property. This is ideal for younger buyers or renters, who are used to living in houses that are confined to the inside. With an open floor plan design, homeowners have the option to make use of exterior space even when it is not utilized. These types of houses are typically smaller in size, compared to traditional duplexes, town homes, and condos.

Another popular home feature among home buyers is the presence of a laundry room. When it comes to shopping for a new home among today’s increasing numbers of buyers, a laundry room is often right up there in the top features. A real estate agent can help prospective buyers with their assessment of the amount of square feet necessary to house a washer and dryer. Depending on the price of the home and the area the real estate agent is serving, the laundry room may be one of the first features that are considered.

Homeowners may also consider the purchase contract when it comes to choosing new home features. In addition, a contract might specify that the window treatments must be installed. Whatever the case, each of these items is considered personal property, which is subject to the terms and conditions of the contract between the buyer and the seller.
